Paris Fashion Week S/S 2011: Chloé

Chloé is the show I always look forward to the most. To me it's the epitome of French chic and sophistication. It's not my favorite Chloé collection as there were hits and misses but the looks above I absolutely adore.

PS: Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I just started at new uni and I am also in the process of redecorating/renovating my room. I painted the walls weeks ago but still haven't really cleaned out all the stuff I don't want anymore...it's quite messy at the moment >.<. I'll show you pics once it's finished.

Paris Fashion Week: Vanessa Bruno, Miu Miu, Giambattista Valli

Femininity at it's best! So sad that Paris Fashion Week is already over - it is easily the most stylish time of the year. I still need to look through all of those incredibly inspiring street style pictures popping up everywhere!

Paris Fashion Week: Lanvin, Christian Dior, Cacharel

Paris Fashion Week S/S01: Valentino, Dries Van Noten, Karl Lagerfeld

I had such a hard time choosing my favorite looks from this collection! I loved almost every piece and would've loved to just post them all =P. It's so romantic and classy and just simply beautiful. <3

Dries always shows such a beautiful color palette and a wonderful mix of different prints. Although I liked last season better I still really enjoyed this show. I always get inspired to dress more colorful when I look at any Dries Van Noten collection. He does color in such a sophisticated yet laid back way. C'est chic!

This is very clean, very simple yet it is definitely glamorous. Loved it!

Paris Fashion Week:Dries Van Noten, Hussein Chalayan, Emanuel Ungaro

Beautitful colors, relaxed and elegant pieces - love it!

Not a bad collection but the true Chalayan spirit was misssing. I guess that's also due to economical suituation and I really hope that Chalayan survives this crisis, he is one of the most innovative designers out there. I did like the collection none the less, the neon pieces and those bodice pieces were great.

Paris Fashion Week: Isabel Marant, Maison Martin Margiela, Comme des Garçons

A really nice and wearable collection, a bit simple but I like it. And I need those studded booties <3.

Such creative construction and cuts! You really should check out the whole collection, there's so many interesting pieces and looks. I think my favorite is that robot shoulder.

Absolutely amazing and so imaginative collection. It's like a fusion of so many garments and materials and done in such an interesting manner that you can stare at each look for minutes analyzing it.

Paris Fashion Week: Rue du Mail, Balmain

I love the color palette, the fabulous structures and materials in this collection.

Decarnin picked up where he left off last season. The shoulders of the glitzy embellished blazers were even more prominent, there were more studs and glitter - all in all a very predictable collection. But it works, it worked last season and so does it this season. Seeing that the body con glitter dresses were copied from NY to Paris I guess it was only logical that in a time of recession he wouldn't step out of his comfort zone. Especially given the huge commercial success. As much as it's nothing new I do really like the collection..it's very very sexy, very rock and extremely cool. What I most liked were the embellished slouchy pants - pure perfection <3!

Paris Fashion Week: Louis Vuitton, Lanvin, Miu Miu

The main think I like about this collection is the pleats. Some of the dresses and skirts were really nice too but all in all I'm not too impressed. I think it's very safe and wearable but also a bit boring.

Classic Lanvin: ruffles, dramatic sleeves, vibrant colors and gorgeous shapes. <3

There's so much going on in all of those outfits but I think I like it. If you look past the styling there are many lovely individual pieces.
I absolutely hate the bags - not that I ever really do like LV bags - but seriously these are bad.

Paris Fashion Week: Alexander McQueen, Kenzo, Chloé

Not a mind blowing collection but definitely a more wearable one from McQueen. I did like all the crazy prints and the robotic shapes. I also thought the hourglass dresses were absolutely gorgeous.

The layering, the prints - everything is so light and beautiful! All the clothes have incredible detailing and such a timless romanticism about them. What I'm always impressed with at Kenzo is the lightness in which textures, prints and embellishments are mixed.

I'm trying hard not to be too critical as this is Hannah McGibbons first collection as Chloé's designer but I really can look past some things: Everything looks so heavy and big. I somehow assoicate the typical Chloé girl look with light and flowy fabrics. Also those dinosaur tops are hideous. And what's wrong with those "diaper shorts"? Overall, I'm very disappointed but I will also say that I do like some pieces in this collection such as those criss-cross tops and this amazing jumpsuit.

Paris Fashion Week: Giambattista Valli, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel

Am amazingly beautiful collection! The silhouettes, the fabrics, the colors everything is so romantic and modern. I especially love the full 50s skirts, they're done in such a sophisticated way that I could imagine myself wearing those everyday - no matter how unpractical they may be.

This collection certainly isn't as great as the last two from YSL but there were a lot of nice pieces that I liked nonetheless. There was a lot of pressure on Pilati after all the rave reviews he received for his last collections.
LOVE the shoes!

As always, the Chanel show was held in an amazing setting - a replica of Rue Cambon 31, the legendary first Chanel boutique.
This is one of the Chanel collections that I like, I'm not always such a big Chanel fan and I'm also not in love this this but I did think it was a good collection. This season Lagerfeld interpreted the classic Chanel tweed jacked in a rocky way by adding lots of chains. Some of the dresses were horrible but I loved a lot of the darker looks and those two toned tights were great!

Paris Fashion Week: Dries Van Noten,Hussein Chalayan, Stella McCartney

I really love this collection, everything is so chic. And those chunky necklaces are pulling it all together, making it even more beautiful.

Wow! I always love watching Hussein Chalayan's shows, it really is more like art than actual fashion. Hussein Chalayan said about the collection: "It's about the speed in our lives and how it can only result in a crash." To really get the awesomeness of this you should definitely watch the video of the show.

I like this, it's not my favorite collection of hers but it still is very fresh and classy. I usually prefer her fall/winter collections over her spring/summer ones as she makes such lovely knits. Overall, the collection was lovely but also a little boring but with some really nice pieces in between that stood out from the rest. Like that glitter bodysuit worn under an over sized blazer.

Paris Fashion Week: Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Lacroix, Givenchy

I'm not usually a fan of Lagerfeld but what he came up with this season for his own label I really like. The two-toned looks, the gorgeous shapes and that hilarious "face"-bag! I also really like the combination of those very structured pieces with the black tulle.

Lovely collection. A lot of nice pieces and amazing details. I think the whole show had a wonderfully positive feel to it.

Apart from the horrible mix of leather and denim in some looks I found the collection to be teriffic. You can see Tisci's signature gothic references but there's also a certain girly-ness in this collection which is a nice contrast I think.
And just how great are those black overknee boots?!!

Paris Fashion Week: Maison Martin Margiela, Balenciaga, Ann Demeulemeester

I'm not too sure about the actual clothes but the presentation was amazing.

Balenciaga is always one of the shows I look forward to the most. You can count on Nicolas Ghesquière to come up with something interesting and very fashion forward.
This collection definitely lived up to those standards - very futuristic and well done. I don't like it as much as I liked his previous collections though. I really disliked the pants shown with the first couple of look - they didn't seem well cut at all. Also the glitter dresses at the end were a bit unexpected and I don't really know if I like them. But Balenciaga is always a look that needs to grow on me a little.
All in all I do really like it. I love the mini dresses with the heart shaped applications - they probably make it hard to move your arms tough, haha.

Ann Demeulemeester

Perfection, I am in love with all of it.
The shapes, the details...everything is so pretty.
